Get a tank, Jason
A baffling correction ran in the Deseret News today that indicates just how crazy-red the Third Congressional District is:
Third Congressional District candidate Jason Chaffetz, a Republican, is not related* to former Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis. Chaffetz's father was married to Kitty Dukakis before marrying Chaffetz's mother. Kitty Dukakis later married Michael Dukakis.

This "corrects" a story by DN political editor Bob Bernick:
Chaffetz is related by marriage* to Michael Dukakis, the 1988 Democratic presidential nominee.
Oops, Bernick made Chaffetz's connection to the failed 1988 Democratic presidential candidate a little too close.

Sheesh. It's not like Bernick said Chaffetz has Dukakis' DNA, or is related by marriage to Willie Horton, or drinks rubbing alcohol — which he doesn't, isn't and doesn't.

*Emphasis mine.

Just another example of Bernick writing without fact checking. Even the most basic check is beyond his ability.

Of course, expecting fact checking would assume that he is a reporter. Since he's an editorialist, he doesn't need to worry about facts getting in the way of his story.

To quote the ditto-heads at the 198whatever Republican Convention: "Where's the beef?!"

Why do we have to endure this wingnut crap every 2 years?
