Give me your tired, your poor, your radioactive
Utah's love-hate relationship with Energy Solutions is reaching a crisis point.

Love: E.S. houses our beloved Jazz and is very nice to our lawmakers — owning a controlling interest in U.S. Congressman Rob Bishop.

Hate: To make the money to continue to do the wonderful things above, Energy Solutions wants to take Italian low-level radioactive waste into its Tooele County N-dump.

Now, 4,000 ingrates have complained to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, asking it to block the Italian N-waste. Worse, the Utah attorney general filed a petition asking the NRC for a public hearing. You know how ugly that will be.

Congressman Jim Matheson is pushing a bill through Congress to keep foreign nuclear waste out of the country.

After seeing which way the wind is blowing, Gov. Huntsman, has gone from a spectator in the controversy to opposing Utah becoming the home of Italian N-waste.

Can love survive?
