Heads roll into the wild blue
The mixup at Hill that resulted in nuke missile fuses being shipped to Taiwan in the place of helicopter batteries — China was less than thrilled with that — has led to heads rolling at the top of U.S. Air Force command.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates has canned Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Michael Moseley and Air Force Secretary Michael Wynn.

It wasn't all Hill's fault. Another screwup that sent a B-52 armed with nuclear missiles on a flight from North Dakota to Louisiana, didn't help. (What did the Cajuns ever do to the NoDaks?)

Does anyone else see the sharp contrast between this incident and the investigation of torture at Abu Ghraib?

For once, the guys who gave the orders caught the heat. Surely even the Air Force had some non-commissioned patsies to take the blame.

Speaking of... Orrin Hatch is in a tizzy about a Senate investigation that has found that Bush and Cheney lied to the American people to drag the nation into the Iraq War. Orrin called the two damning reports:
...a pathetic end of a desperate search to provide any basis for the bumper sticker, "Bush lied, people died.''
