Remember that war?
The Tribune's catch-all email address got the following note:Dear Editors - and staff who decide what content is published:Photo: Shannon Parr with son Nicholas. She's the widow of Sgt. Brandon Parr who was killed in Iraq.
Thank you for periodically publishing the photos of the Utah servicemen who have died in Mr Bush's disgraceful war. My partisan politics aside, it is a gut wrenching visual aid to remind me of the real human toll of this war. We have the photo of the persons killed in 2007 on our fridge. I want to remember them, and remember to thank them.
We have a son-in-law who is Army Reserve. He served in Iraq during his service with the Marines. Thank God his face is not one of those pictured.
Every one of Utah's fallen has family who are still hurting—for whom the hurt will never go away. Add to that pain the war dead of the 49 other states, and the number begins to be too large for me to wrap my head around.
I can wrap my head around Utah's fallen, and I will post the new photo on the fridge so that everyone who walks by my fridge remembers these young people.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Barbara Jeffries
