What's that sticking out of your back, Guv?
Jason Chaffetz, who wants to unseat Congressman Chris Cannon, apparently is trying to make up for a shoe-string campaign with breathtaking chutzpah.

Chaffetz, if you remember, slammed his former boss, Gov. Jon Huntsman, at the GOP convention — in Huntsman's presence:
Jon Huntsman, as much as I like you, you're wrong on global warming. It's a farce.
This week, Chaffetz, a former NuSkin huckster, sent out campaign literature quoting remarks Huntsman made after delicately forcing Chaffetz out of his job as chief of staff:
[Chaffetz was the] most gifted political strategist I have ever encountered. He combined campaign leadership with executive branch management that is unprecedented.
Huntsman's spokeswoman Lisa Roskelley says:
Our office was surprised to see the mailer included a quote from the governor given other statements made by the candidate. The statement was not intended for campaign literature.
Caffetz, above: "What, Guv? What?"

I'm sorry, how is this a slam? People disagree all the time, and granted, Jason is a bit more direct than most people, but that's what is so refreshing about him. You know where he stands with the issues, and you know where you stand with him. The governor certainly does. and that quote by the governor from a news article was used with Huntsman's permission before the state convention. Is it that slow of a news day around here?

The Huntsman family has given money to Chaffetz and not to Cannon (see, fec.gov). We need someone who can disagree and stand for something rather than play the game of Washington. People don't think that being strong allows you to get anything done. Not so. We don't need milk toast, we need principle-based leadership. Even if it is in your face occasionally.

He publicly disagreed with our state governor? Wow, maybe he'll actually have the guts to stand up to other Republicans like Bush when they want massive spending increases and socialism lite. We could use more Republicans with principled spines serving in Congress these days.

Man made global warming is a farce. What's wrong with pointing it out? Al Gore is just a huckster of junk science.

Are we to assume the Gov is always correct, Comrade Warchol? And just because people disagree on one issue doesn't mean they disagree on every issue.
