Wild Bill lets 'er rip
St. George state Sen. Bill Hickman, who will retire after this term, lets loose on Congress. He not only says Utah voters have been "betrayed" by their delegation, he names names:
Congressmen: You failed to do your duty and you broke your trust with the people of Utah. I'm looking at you, Sen. Hatch.
... Like impotent, self-important bulls in a china shop, they have shattered liberties paid for by the best blood of the past several hundred years. They did so while mouthing patriotic soundbites like sheep. They built up counterfeits of genuine patriotism and true security and worshiped at that altar while the nation crumbled. . . .

I want a change in D.C. If our congressional delegation cannot turn it around, I want leaders who can. . . .

So why do we keep sending Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett back to Washington? They are not our A Team. We can do better.
It's sort of a Mr. Smith Leaves the Legislature speech. Of course, Sen. Lame Duck never threw bombs like this when Bennett and Hatch made their annual calls on the Senate. The visits by Hatch and Bennett always turn into a butt-kissing contest at the Lege.

In a etiquette-smashing incident a couple years ago, Sen. Howard Stephenson laid into the congressional visitors for their lack of leadership, but I didn't hear Wild Bill, a few seats away, join in with a "Yeah, what he said."
