Working hard for vouchers

In "the quote of the conference" the lobbyist explained the anti-voucherites victory:
The [Utah] teachers union, the feminists, and the superintendent’s groups are all organized and they’re out there beating the drum everyday. The parents and those directly affected by the bill only get up in arms every so often. Who do you think the courts and the media will listen to?
The lesson, says FFVE, is:
As parents, can we afford not to stay informed and be engaged? Don’t we have to keep working and just as hard as THEY do?

Hmm. I would say that many in the pro-voucher group were also in the pro-Jason Chaffetz group - I know I am. Quit trying to have it both ways. Either the people have spoken or they haven't. Either we're all a bunch of harsh, boorish extremists or we are actually intelligent, thinking folks and some of us disagree on certain issues. Vouchers would not have affected me personally - no kids in private school and no plans for such. I am pro-parental choice and having another option that makes those choices a little easier, well, I'm in favor of those. But, vouchers were voted down, so folks can go back to the drawing board and work on another pro-parental choice bill and stop whining. You sound like Chris Cannon.
