Hallelujah, I'm biased
Rep. Steve Urquhart, goes all agitato and rips me and Trib columnist Rebecca Walsh on his blog. His point, I discovered after sifting through all the sarcasm, is that we are biased. In my case, because of this post about "Mr. Big" at the Lege.

I love freedom of speech and plenty of it. But I take exception to Stevie's allegations:
After all, they're torchbearers for a venerable daily, even more, for the dispassionate fourth estate itself -- not, say, bloggers, for heaven's sake. They lobby hard for their tax exempt status, because they act (cue "God Bless America") in the public good.
First, I am biased. I make that clear every day. Second, I am passionate.

Finally, I am a blogger. Yes, I work for korporate media, but I am a creature of the blogosphere just like you. (Steverino can take a crack at defining blog/blogger if he'd like.)

Walsh can defend herself, but last I heard, she's a columnist. The job description includes having an opinion.

Finally, if it seems like I spend more time picking on Republicans, it's because they are The Power in this state. (Cue "The Internationale.")

Glen,

So when does the Tribune pick up a conservative blogger and/or columnist? The total absence of conservatives at the Tribune where liberals like you, Walsh, Rolly, Vern Anderson, et al are numerous simply backs up what Urquhart is saying.

Good Lord.
Urqie really looks like one of Bagley's stereotypic cartoon Utah Republican legislators.
You think he was Bagley's model.
Keep stirring the rancid pot, Glen.

Deacon,

Maybe the trib doesn't want to hire a bunch of professional liars.

Urquhart can always read the Dnews... it is after all, becoming by it's own admission "more Mormon".

Anon 1:14,

Are you saying all conservatives are liars? If so, I guess you would be right at home with the Tribune.

The repugs in the Legislature sure seem to be whining about how no one respects them a lot more these days. Makes me think of my old mother's saying, "The guilty dog howls the loudest." Maybe they'll finally get a clue and finger out why it is that everyone thinks they're crooks and liars: because they are! Nah, not gonna happen.

Glen, your worst trait is the whining I hear becuase some legislator picked on you. Cut it out, you big baby!
Dish it out but can't take it?
Gee you must be a liberal or a journalist. Or both.
Cry me a river Glen.

Who is Mr. Big?

Answer these questions and find the one person who shows up on all the lists and the secret will be revealed to you:

1) Who is a member of House Republican leadership that is not Greg Curtis (who has denied that it is him and who is too shrewd to do this directly anyway)?
2) Who is on Executive Appropriations Committee?
3) Who is the sponsor or prime mover of legislation pertaining to executive compensation, elected officials pay, and related matters?
4) Who was a prominent supporter of Mark Walker at the Republican Convention?
5) Who works for Zions Bank?

Signed,

The Riddler

Maybe the trib has already hired a bunch of professional liars.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
