ksl vs. gun permits
The 900-pound Gorilla of Utah media has come out for reducing the reach of Utah's concealed weapon permit program.Shocking, I agree, but KSL's opinionator Duane Cardall questions why Utah is issuing concealed carry permits to out-of-state residents, when the program's administrators say they cannot adequately track their criminal records:
Unfortunately, this puts KSL in the path of the guns-rights Godzilla. Even though Cardall's concerns line up with those of Gov. Jon Huntsman's, this is one time, I predict, the church-owned gorilla is pounding its chest in the wilderness. Utahns—who are increasingly embracing handgun open-carry — love their iron.It begs a couple of simple questions: why is the state of Utah even in the business of arming the nation? How does it benefit the people of Utah?
Without solid, non-ideological answers to those questions, it would be best to stop issuing permits to out-of-state applicants.

California is helping the rest of the nation exercise its right to marriage equality. Utah is helping the rest of the nation exercise its right to bear arms. These two states should be proud of themselves. Liberty isn't something you should keep your yourself.

Well then why the hell would we care about denying permits to out-of-staters? And what does open carry have to do with CCW? This is a just plain silly blog post.
Does Mr. Warchol really believe that this position of KSL's is shocking? At first I thought he was being a little ironic, but it doesn't fit in the context. KSl and its ownership don't seem to have ever been pro-gun in the past. Am I misreading something?

In Utah, gun = penis. Remember that and the positions of the gun nutz in Utah are much easier to understand.
