Rep. Jim Matheson, ?-Utah

NAACP president Jeanetta Williams finds Congressman Jim Matheson's decision to avoid the nomination of the first U.S. black presidential candidate "unfortunate."
If 200,000 Germans will show up to see American history being made, she tells KSL, Matheson should too.
So [Europeans] are wanting to see him, wanting to hear him. They realize that this is history. We would just like to see the top Democratic person, Congressman Matheson, take more of a leadership role and be a Democrat. Stand up. Be counted. Let the cameras see you at the national Democratic convention.Semi-Dem Matheson says he can't make the convention in Denver because his son will begin the fourth grade that week.
The obvious solution, I think, is for Matheson to aid and abet his son in playing hooky — so they can experience the historic moment together.
The best part of this delicious dust up over Matheson's don't-ask-don't-tell policy on being a Democrat, is the way Democratic Party leaders twist themselves into pretzels, not to criticize the highest-ranking member of their party.
State Sen. Gene Davis told KSL:
He claims he's a Democrat. He is a Democrat. I believe he's a Democrat also. So it comes as a little bit of a disappointment.
How does Matheson respond? He refused to be interviewed by KSL.

Why does everything revert back to race? I won't vote for Obama, not because he's black, but because of his stance on the issues. I usually vote democrat, but not this time. He scares me.
Of course Matheson is a democrat, but is Williams an American. Sounds like she is busy embracing her German heritage.
I'm not voting for McCain because I don't think our country can survive another four years of Bush.
Who other than political hacks care about party affiliation, let alone whether someone attends a coronation? Bottom line, Matheson is a terrific congressman who is doing a great job representing his constituents. He deserves, and will easily win, re-election.
matheson has the backbone of a jelly fish. he treads so lightly on controversial issues he leaves no prints.
Matheson spends his entire year focusing on campaigning and working with the public so he can become elected as a Democrat. The Republicans are keeping him from doing things that would help the state. As the Republicans slice and dice the geographic areas of the state to squeeze every last Republican vote, Matheson has to campaign and work overtime to get elected.
This reminds me of how other great political leaders such as Abraham Lincoln put his family first. I think it's a great excuse.
"he treads so lightly on controversial issues he leaves no prints."
So he's a conservationist too.
Matheson may do a great job campaigning, but name any heavy lifting that he has done.
Pussy, pussy, pussy, pussy, pussy, pussy. Pussy.

I repeat. Matheson not showing up - when he should lead Utah's delegation at the historic convention - is pure racism.
Of one thing I am certain, Matheson will vote for McCain if the old man has Romney as his vp running mate.
Matheson is a Republican in Republican clothes. I've seen no difference between him, Bishop, Cannon, Hatch and Bennett.
Utah's Democratic party should ban Matheson for abusing his party membership.

FYI, "revert back" is redundant. Kinda like Matheson and racist.
Another four years of Bush, or another four years of Carter. I'll take four more years of Bush.
I voted for Jim Matheson who is doing a great job for Utahans. But he needs to stand up and be accounted for at this convention. He needs to show the rest of Utah that he is a true Democrat and is a leader for Utah.

Now is that the media (gwarchol) being racist or is that Williams being a racist? Or are they both racists?
As far as Matheson is concerned, he is a Washington Politition who needs to be retired like Cannon is retiring. Now if we can just get all the Senators and Representives to only server a two terms, that would be great.
So what if 200,000 Germans showed up for Obama?
They like that kind of stuff.
Nuremburg, Krystalnacht, etc., come to mind.
Anyway, we Americans have the right to be disinterested and lazy. So do our senators!
If the Germans love him(lower case so as to NOT imply Diety), let him stay there!
