Rocky, the sequel
And you thought after Ralph Becker was elected, the news would be Rocky-free.Ha.
Former Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson has long had a bone to pick with the Bush administration's near-dictatorial power grabbing, wiretapping and torture. Finally, he's going to get to spout off to some folks who can actually, maybe, do something about it.
Anderson will testify at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on presidential abuse of power. In his usual silver-tongued way, he explains:
I'll be addressing some of the more egregious abuses such as the complete disregard of Congress' statutory laws, the Constitution and treaty obligations by engaging in such outrageous and in many instances unprecedented practices. I'll also be addressing the president's assertion of completely unrestrained power and his theory that during the so-called War on Terror neither Congress nor the courts can restrict what the president does.Got that?
It says something about both Rocky and Utah that probably half the thoughtful people in the state, including the far right — would agree with him. But Rocky insists on delivering his message in away that terminally annoys just about everyone.

I don't care if he's annoying, I just LOVE the image of Rocky, the mayor of Salt Lake City freakin' red state Bush-lovin' UTAH, right up in Bush's face, accusing him--and with very good reason, I think--of high crimes and misdemeanors. GO ROCKY!
Probably the highlight of Rocky's life.
My father in law gre up down the street from Rocky for a while. He said that he remebers him as a whinny kid that most of the neighborhood kids kind of avoided becuase he frequently comlained about the rules of the games they woudl play.
Sounds like the little boy never grew up.
Anonymous, if you aren't able to complain about Bush's "rules", you're part of the problem.
Man, what a tool Rocket J. Squirrel is.
This is a failed mayor looking for a cause, as if anyone in D.C. gives a hoot about what an obnoxious snit from a backwater state has to say about national/international politics.
He ought to stick with walking his dogs and letting his lawn go to weeds.
I can't stand rocky. SO happy he is gone. I can only hope he stays even farther out of the lime light now.
I actually agree with Rocky on most of his issues, but as a person he is not much more than an asshole.
I have never met anyone who is as arrogant as Rocky and that's why his voice doesn't mean much to me. He wants to be batman, but he's more like Assholian.
I love Rocky. I love how he hates idiots like rockyroadkill said, anonymous said, and anonymous said. Look at his record. He did more for SLC than any previous mayor.
I love how he hates Bush and Cheney, and how he drew thousands of his friends to rallies attacking the administration.
God bless Rocky.
Rdale, you rock!!
