Ross and Scott, say it ain't so
Every politician has its* price. And Micron lobbyist Stan Lockhart coughed it up for a couple of self-righteous Democrats.Sens. Scott McCoy and Ross Romero accepted hard-to-get tickets to a Jazz playoff game worth $400. It's bad enough to get greased by a lobbyist, but Lockhart is also state GOP chairman!

Lockhart also paid for Republican lawmakers to enjoy playoff action: Reps. Kerry Gibson, Paul Ray and Lorie Fowlke and Sens. Pete Knudson and Howard Stephenson. No news there.
*Gramatically speaking, the pronoun should be "his or her price," but when you put your hand out, you're in free fall on the food chain.

Oh, the horror Glen, your heroes at the legislature are no different than the republicans!
Liberals take gifts too, who would have thought!
Throw them all out.
Nice. Now if it had been just one of those dull, regular season games I'm sure they never would have taken it, right? But who could pass up a championship game? BTW, these two are both lawyers. Can't they afford their own playoff tickets? What is with these people? All of them.
The Democrats talk a good talk about ethics, but they are no different that the Republicans (tickers to concerts and Jazz games, fancy dinners, etc.). The media should just accept that and stop pandering to the one and slamming the other. The media should just slam them regardless of party.
And follow the link for charges recently brought against Democrats who used tax money to fight against Ralph Nader's ballot access petition effort in Pennsylvania in 2004.
Plenty more fun to come from this story, folks!
If gift giving is to buy power and influence, then why waste it on Democrats? According to the Trib they have no influence in Utah. Supposedly the Republican super-duper majority runs roughshod on them.
So either (1) the gift are for something other than influence or (2) the Democrats have more power than the media portrays. Either way it suggests the media has been deceiving the public.
