Was it worth it?
The test of whether the raid on the FLDS polygamous ranch in Eldorado, Tex., was a flat-out fiasco or actually might accomplish something has begun.

A Texas grand jury handed down indictments, including a sexual assault of a child charge for FLDS leader Warren Jeffs, who also is awaiting trial in Arizona. A handful of his followers were indicted for charges that include sexually assaulting girls under the age of 17. Authorites aren't naming them until they are rounded up.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who personally participated in the grand jury hearing, says it is not over yet:
The indictments issued today are part of an ongoing and continuing criminal investigation.
He better hope it isn't, considering the mess Texas created in placing more than 400 FLDS kids in foster care before the Texas Supreme Court ruled child welfare authorities over-reacted.

At least Texas has the balls to do something about polygamy instead of just pretending to do something about it.

This is a complicated issue, and Texas has made some mistakes and will undoubtedly make some more, but someone has to take on these welfare-cheating perverts.

Utah created this problem, but hopefully Texas will solve it.

Let's hope Hatch and Reid, both Mormons, acknowledge that fact during the hearings. After all, their church has a stake (no pun intended) in this sordid affair.

Don't be fooled, the Mormon "church" (read corporation) believes in polygamy, no matter what it yells. After all, Joey Smith and Mountain Meadows Serial Killer Briggy practiced it (especially Joe, who went after his friends wives!)

They put it aside for statehood, and are now in denial. Sorry, fellas, can't put the paste back into the tube. After-all, polygamy is super in the after lives. As are gods, thrones, kingdoms on yonder planets. You know the drill.

Good luck Orrin spokesman-for-the-church Hatch and Reid, who really seems to have no taste for this silliness.
