Journalists busted in St. Paul
The host and two producers of Democracy Now! carried locally by community radio station KRCL, were arrested in St. Paul outside the Republican National Convention. You can watch a video of Amy Goodman's arrest here as she attempts to intervene in the arrest of the show's producers. Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher says the producers were arrested on suspicion of rioting. Adding to the 295 demonstrators arrested so far.
Democracy Now! reports:
During the demonstration in which the Democracy Now! team was arrested, law enforcement officers used pepper spray, rubber bullets, concussion grenades and excessive force against protesters and journalists.Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told the Utah delegation that the protesters are "crazies":
With these crazies running around in the streets, these are not the people you want to enable to take over the government of the United States. You don't want to bring the crazies into the house — to give them the keys to the place. The Salt Lake Tribune's Tommy Burr asked McConnell if he was linking the protesters to Obama supporters:
I don't know what they are. They certainly are out of the mainstream of America.

So much for freedom of expression. The Republicans do know that's part of the Constitution, do they not? Country first my aching ass.
Disagreeing with the government means that you are unpatriotic. You can't think for yourself. You have to accept EVERYTHING that Bush and the Republican party say as absolute fact. Freedom of speech just means that you are free to regurgitate the opinion of your pastor/bishop/priest/current president.
You morons did see many of the so-called protestors also shattering glass windows and punching cops, right?
Please do not tell me that such actions are protected by the Constitution.
Just another group of spoiled liberal arts grads with nothing better to do that to wear Che t-shirts, spout Nazi social programs, and destroy other peoples property.
You know, if you had 500 protesters at a rally, that would get my attention. But when what you have is 50 idiots pretending that anarchy is some Constitutionally protected form of behavior, well then you're just crazy.
Anonymous 2 and 3 obviously didn't see the teams of heavily armed police swooping in and closing up houses, knocking down doors, hauling off reporters, and generally acting like Nazi stormtroopers. Remember everyone concerned about what the Chinese were going to do to protestors at the Olympics? They are Mr. Rogers compared to what's happening in St. Paul right now. This is nothing less than a police state in action; one reporter has said that it's more militarized than New York right after 9/11. Anony-mouse #2, such actions are in fact protected by the Constitution. And, anony-moron #3, when you have hundreds of heavily armed police beating people in the streets, kicking down doors with no warrants, and using tear gas on the streets of an American city, will that get your attention? Both of you will deserve it when President Palin (R-religious fanatic) declares that Mormons are Teh Evil and rounds you all up for re-education.
Um, Rdale, were you on the streets on Minneaplois with those self-styled Che loving terrorists, or were you getting your informaiton from some sort of weird blog written byt he marijuana fueled ramblings of some guy who's buddy was there?
There was no kicking down doors.
Tear gas? that's becasue these idiots decided to tear up benches and break windows! So, yeah there is going to be tear gas when you decide to orchestrate mayhem.
Hundreds of heavily armed police?
Yeah, becuase these 18-25 year olds, many of whom have worked in the real world for like, 18 months, wanted to interrupt people who had a right to meet in peace.
Save me your rhetoric?
As far as Nazi storm troopers, there are over 15 similarities between Obama's plan for America and the platofrom of the National Socialist Workers Party run by, you guessed it, Adolph Hitler. Free health care? Hitler liked it too. Organic foods? Hitler was a devout vegitarian and believer in organics. Focsed on the enviornment? Hitler, as a part of his movement to remove religion from public life, made the pagan worship of the environment a top priority. Increase social security? hitler felt that government's role in social pensions for the aged had to be increased.
Still thinking about voting for Obama? If you are scared of storm troopers, maybe you and the unwashed heathens who are costing hard-working American's money to fix pilice cars shoould have protested at the DNC in Denver.
Get a freaking clue.
No, anony-mess, I wasn't on the streets. Were you? Or did you get your info on those mean evil little old ladies and college kids from your usual sources, Faux News and Rushbo? Michale "Weiner" Savage? And Obama and the Nazis? Even though it will pollute your lily-white eyes, go to Glenn Greenwald's blog for accounts on what's been going on:
http://salon.com/opinion/greewald
And yes, the police started pre-emptively kicking in doors, without warrants, without notice, two weeks ago.
I don't know why I even bother with anony-morons like you; you haven't listened to anything other than right-wing hate radio for so long it's not even worth telling you to "get a freaking clue"; you are too clueless.
Rdale, thanks for the insults, you have reinforced my perception that those of this ilk really don't have my best interests in mind, they don't want to educate me, as you have declinde to do.
They just want to insult me when I demand proof, and cause trouble.
For your information, I read seven newspapers a day.
Seven newspapers a day? Crap - I can´t even count that high.
My friends decided to riot outside the RNC because they were told to by some leftist radical blogs online - not because they thought for themselves.
We did not protest the DNC because...well...hmmmm...and the conservatives did not riot the DNC because...well...they are in fact more civilized.
I would write more, but I don´t have a platform to stand on...just like my celebrity star political idols.
Now the anony-morons have taken to fake posts to make their case, just like their fake leaders and fake heroes. For the record, I did not write nor post on 9/4/08 at 2:30PM. That's a fake, which is about what I'd expect from reich-wingnuts. As for being insulted, let's see, I've spent the past seven years being told I'm un-American and a traitor and a terrorist for not jumping on Dear Leaders "Kill the Brown People and we'll all get to Heaven" bandwagon, so yeah, I feel like insulting right-wing idiots sometimes.
