Zion to xenophobia

From Zion National Park...

Springdale is another small town that makes its living off tourists. And from all appearances, it's doing a hell of a business. The town is chock-a-block with resorts, motels, galleries and restaurants and they are all overflowing (instead of "No Vacancy" the lodges just say, "Sorry.")

Easily half of the visitors are German, English and — Sinawava* helps us — the French, who absolutely adore the American Southwest and Utah. Best of all, they are buying first-class meals at Springdale's best restaurants, including Spotted Dog and Whiptail, which rival anything in Park City, Moab or Salt Lake City.

What is going to happen to Southern Utah's economy when Jason Chaffettz starts rounding up foreigners for his tent camps? Ha. Ha. I'm joking of course. Still, the mean-spirited anti-immigrant plan has got to make Utah seem like a menacing place to folks who are different.

*Sinawava, the Piute god of creation.

I'm pretty sure Mexicans aren't dumping wads of cash. We don't want to get rid of all foreigners, just the less desirable ones.

Really? Let's see. Shopping in Utah, buying food, paying utilities, filling their gas tanks, paying rent, picking fruit for you to snap up at the Farmers Market. And one more time--doing the jobs in America you wouldn't lower yourself to do.

Yep, all of it is so undesirable.

xenophobia, Jason was to make Legal immigration work, including lowering the time needed to immigrate legally. That doesn't fit your xeno joke, now does it?

from jasonforgongress:

There are millions of people from around the world who seek to legally become a citizen of the United States of America. Unfortunately, the system is failing. Last year the Wall Street Journal stated the current green-card backlog includes applicants who face a 22-year wait time. This doesn’t work for anybody. We need to implement the leadership necessary to fix this problem and appropriate the money needed to thoroughly process applicants in a timely manner. Until legal immigration works, we will continue to have major problems.

Standard politics, if I keep repeating a lie it becomes true.

This is partisanship, simply. It's ugly and keeps true debate silenced. Chaffetz didn't say that, you skewed it to hear what you wanted to. As long as this garbage exist the nonsensical partisan bickering lives.

"douchebag dipshiit (sp)liberals"

Wow, such a convincing argument. You are right, how could I have been so blind. I can't deny your persuasive impact of your analysis and arguments.

Thank you "liberalsarescum" for so eloquently explaining the issue.

Jason just wanted to:

Fix legal immigration
Reject amnesty
Lock down the border, enforce visas
Have the political will to enforce the current laws
Get rid of rewards & incentives to be here illegally
Give business the tools & align financial incentives
Insist on assimilation (English)

I guess Jason just want a "brown paper bag" test to rid the state of those residents with darker complexions. I'm guessing the "Curse of Cain" lives on with some folks.

What at stupid, mean thing to say to anyone!

1. Jason wasn't targeting anyone's race.
2. What does Cain have to do with immigration?

I'm sorry "Utah," I guess I mistakenly thought the "Curse of Cain" doctrine was directed against more than African-Americans, in fact all darker skinned people.

My Indian friends remember those "White and Delightsome" days of not being welcomed. (I guess it's too hard for Jason to deport Native Americans.)

It's easy to get the impression the the only faces welcomed in Utah by a lot of people are pale White ones.

Xenophobia, indeed. From comment one, "We don't want to get rid of all foreigners, just the less desirable ones."

I think I've got it figured out. Glen Warchol is on Bennion Spencer's payroll--that's why he keeps beating this dead horse over and over and over and over and...

lets see... Do you typically judge a candidate by the comments of some anonymous blogger, or from statements from the candidate or his/her campaign?
