Mitt's Palin problem
After a week of leaks from the McCain campaign that painted Sarah Palin as an tantrum-throwing, towel-wearing, in-bred hillbilly idiot, Mitt Romney is denying his supporters are behind the smear campaign.

Some blogs have linked Romney loyalists to the nasty revelations that Palin, for instance, thinks Africa is a country, not a continent. The motive, the bloggers say, is to scuttle Palin to ensure Mitt's 2012 presidential run.

Mitt's closest advisors deny any involvement, but his former campaign spokesman Kevin Madden sharply critcized the selection of Palin, telling CNN:
When you put out an unknown and you give them 70 days with which to go through a vetting process, both by voters and the national press corps, ugly things can tend to happen.
Romney knows better than anyone Ronald Reagan's "11th Commandment": Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican. The commandment, of course, has been regularly ignored during this campaign. But if Mitt hopes to ride in and rebuild the GOP, he doesn't want to be seen as a backstabbing opportunist — especially when two-thirds of the Republican base says it wants their adored Palin as the 2012 standard bearer.

Better for her to be Mitt's problem than America's problem.

Romney is a sleeze; the dude makes my skin crawl. He is just plain creepy. Sarah Palin WILL be an excellent candidate when Obama finishes his term(s) in the White House. Forget about it Mitt ... you have no future in Washington. If you didn't have money to bring to McCain, he would have thrown you in the trash himself. You treated him (and every other contended) like crap with your lies and half-truths.

As a conservative, I saw McCain as a pathetic choice; the only thing that made me "consider" him was his choice of Sarah Palin. However, in the end, I just couldn't vote for him. McCain-Lieberman, McCain-Fenigold, McCain-Kennedy - this guy (McCain) should just become a Democrat because he votes like one. I voted for Baldwin. All his talk about Obama being a socialist is a joke; HE (McCain ... and his buddy Romney) are socialists to the max. Romney is all for farm "subsidies" (corporate welfare) ... and McCain for bank bailouts (more corporate welfare). They are both hypocrites; it's like the Mormons who point fingers about drinking and gambling ... then head to Wendover to do it in someone else's "backyard".

If McCain had not picked Palin, he would have had just 1/2 the votes he did have. McCain and his gang (Phil Grahm, Lindsey Grahm, Tower, Lieberman, etc are history; time for old men to hit the rocking chair. Same for you Gingrich ... your days are over as well.

I surely "would" love to see Romney down on his knees begging Sarah Palin for a job in her administration. If I was her, I tell him he had a job as a "Senior Advisor" ... then hand him a dish rag and tell him to "start dring" (the dishes).

If two-thirds of "republicans" want Palin as their Nominee in 2012, Obama has just secured his second term without firing a shot.

Are you crazy? I'm not even Mormon and it is clear as day that Mitt Romney is as articulate, refined, and presidential as it comes. Two Harvard degrees without the benefit of affirmative action!

Sarah Palin, while having a few pluses, is unsophisticated, lacking in knowledge, and destroyed any chance of McCain getting the much-needed independent vote. If anyone is a sleeze or should make someone's skin crawl, it is the so-called President-Elect. As far as I'm concerned, I have no President as long as Obama is around.

I'll take Obama over Romney anytime. I don't agree with his stance on certain issues; however, I believe he is sincere in wanting the best for MOST Americans.

Romney cares only about Romney; ask all the people who suffered at his hand. He lied to people in Massachusetts and wiggled his way around the issues. McCain is no conservative; even the talk show hosts would say "hold my nose" (me too) when it came to McCain.

Obama is no jerk. His most "trouble" will be the liberal wing of the Democratic party. All these people buying guns for fear of Obama "taking them away" are paranoid. I am a NRA member and have no fear of Obama leaving me defenseless.

If you check into Romney's time as Governor, you will find that he left a mess for Duvall Patrick. I say this as a conservative. Romney tacked on "fees" that he kept denying were taxes. He is someone who can't be trusted.

I just watch Sarah on FoxNews. She is going to be a good President one day. As a man, she has my respect for many reason, perhaps at the "top" is that she speaks highly of her husband; very few woman do so. Most of them bitch and moan and complain. She is an independent outspoken woman (a true "feminist") who won't kowtow to the liberal definition of feminist. She is smart, and has more executive experience (i.e. "bucks stops here" - on her desk) than McCain, Biden and Obama combined.

Her "problem" (for many people) is that she IS "the girl next door" ... cooking supper for her family, feeding her baby, doing homework with her kids ... and too many people (Americans) just can't accept the fact that she is as qualified (if not "more") than any of the candidates who ran.

You can say all you want but truth is no one but the Media elects our leaders!
The reason the media didn't like Mitt is because he had no dirt in his closet. He is an outstanding man with such honesty, intelligence and is forth right that I don't think the people of the US deserve him! For those who think he is creepy or sleeze or makes your skin crawl, Maybe because you have never met nor know what a good man of integrity is.

With Obama as President, many of us are now foreigners in the land we were born in. There is no longer a true America and the concept of a President is now so devalued as to be useless. To analogize, it is almost as if Rolls Royces were handed out to the homeless - kind of loses its appeal and value!!! Oh well. Look at the District of Columbia poll results and you'll know without a doubt that your lame, pathetic, make-you-feel so noble, self-hating attitude that elected Obama will NEVER be reciprocated - EVER.

You're a goof-ball, don't you even read your own newspaper? Mitt's not running for president again!

No "conservative" could ever say straight-faced that they would take Obama over Romney. Give me a break. You can't be serious. Other than minorities, only self-hating liberal freaks would vote for Obama.

Whoever said "only a liberal freak would vote for Obama" is an idiot. Pick up a newspaper, pal. 54% of the country, by your definition, is a "liberal freak." I'm an independent, and the Republicans lost because they had no center.

It's all corrupt. But I'd rather give the country to someone with "no experience" like Obama than someone with lots of experience but who SCREWS IT ALL UP and is beholden to special interests so they can pay them back on OUR DIME for eight years. Thanks, BUSH! Good riddence.

I hope and pray that Sara Palin would run over Mitt, sleeze ball ,Romney. I would vote for a dog catcher before I would vote for Mitt Romney. You think
George W. Bush was bad..if we had Romney for President we might as well throw in the towel as world leader.

To the above "anonymous" ...

Absolutely correct :)

I am considering printing up some "Romney for Dog Catcher 2012" bumper stickers (as a joke) - I know A LOT of people feel the same. I bet he'd lose though. He IS so self centered that he stuck his dog on the roof of the family car on a vacation trip ... and the dog actually crapped all over the roof. So efficient! Great man old Mitt - great problem solver :( He treats people like he treated that dog.

Want to know why a "conservative" would NOT vote McCain (or Romney). Talk about "socialism" :)

McCain supports open borders.

McCain signed off on the bailout bill.

Romney supports subsidies (welfare) for farmers.

The REPUBLICANS (wannabe "conservative") took a country with a surplus ... into a country into debt (to the tune of trillions).

Republicans have used fear for years to get elected. Whether it's Giulliani and his "Terror, terror, 9-11" repertoire (that's all he had to say through months of campaigning) or some other republican telling us "me or gay marriage (or no guns)" ... it's all fear based. Obama is the "redistributor"? What the F'k is that? McCain had nothing to stand on but his time as a POW.

I am a conservative; however, when I got all the "pro-life" (which I am) emails portraying Obama as some moron who's favorite past-time is killing babies; these emails made me sick - sick of someone trying to con me. Same for the NRA messages about Obama taking everyone's guns away. It is this "fear" that is (and has been) used by Republicans for years. It won't work anymore.

I WILL fight against the FOCA act, as well as against any form of gun control. However, any Republican that thinks I (and many other conservatives) will just give them our vote (anymore) is mistaken. Today's generation of conservatives (like "me") would prefer an Obama over "4 more years" (of Bush) - 4 more years of indentured servitude to the likes of Romney and other multi (hundred) millionaires.

As Reagan said years ago, "Are you better off now than 4 years ago". For most of the country (except the top 1%) the answer is a resounding "no".

I don't envy Obama; he was left a hell of a mess to clean up. I remember Bush saying that he's leaving the war for the next president to deal with. This is like a little kid who leaves his toy's all over the floor for the next kid to "clean up". Even a kid in kindergarten knows that one should always clean up their own "mess".

I hope conservatives try to help him (Obama) cleanup an 8-year nightmare. He DOES want what's best for the country as a whole; guys like Romney, Cheney, Phil Grahm and the like only want what's best for them.

I am going to disagree with the person that said 54%of America voted for Obama. NOt So. Only 35% voted for Obama. As only 70 % of the Population Voted. And considering that there are only 18% Black population, and not all of them are voting age and not all voted for Obama. It makes it even more likely that he won because of the snake oil that he peddled and people bought...socialism at its finest.
Romney/Huckabee 2012
