Red hot ticket in Utah
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown recently offered some advice to Democrats seeking scarce presidential Inauguration tickets — ask a red-state Republican:I mean, how many people from Oklahoma think this is the nation's biggest historical moment? My bet is, not many. So lawmakers there will have plenty of tickets to give away. But Politico says that is not the case, even in Utah's scarlet-red Third District. Congressman-elect Jason Chaffetz is giving a portion of his tickets to his Democratic colleagues:
I would hope that sometime soon, they would do the same for us.Ha, ha.
But seriously, Chaffetz says, the inauguration of the first African-American president is a historic moment for Republicans too.
We have patriotic Republicans who also want to attend. We can only assume Sen. Chris Buttars is all over Chaffetz for tickets.

It is pretty neat that the national news are asking Jason what he thinks.
Perhaps this has something to do with it: (from the Deseret News..)
Rep.-elect Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, won Thursday one of just three
leadership positions available among incoming GOP freshmen, while Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, was elected as the new chairman of the
Congressional Western Caucus.
Chaffetz was elected to represent the 21 new GOP freshmen on the House Republican Policy Committee.
"The policy committee is the coordinating point for the Republican voice, the Republican side of the aisle," Chaffetz said. "To be a freshman and be on it is important to Utah, and to me personally."
House Republican leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said, "This was an
excellent choice by our freshman members. Jason Chaffetz is an
energetic new voice in our conference for the principles of fiscal discipline and limited government. In this post, he'll be able to make an immediate impact as House Republicans develop principled solutions to the challenges facing the American people."
Chaffetz added, "My entire candidacy for the U.S. House of
Representatives was based upon the need to return to core conservative
principles. Policy, not big money, is what propelled me to office. I
look forward to representing the views of the freshman class."
Way to go Jason. Please serve your constituents well by insisting upon local companies making the tents and cots for your wetback concentration camps.
Buttars would not be caught dead at the inauguration - too many Democrats (WJ for 'homos') that may tempt him back to the ways of his youth....
I'm excited by all the national attention that Jason is getting as well. And, the inauguration will be a historic event, no matter who you are. This will be an interesting 4 years.
