S. Jordan fails IQ test
This photo is good for another five years!

Despite the editorial blasts of The Salt Lake Tribune and the pleas of gays and people of color everywhere, Sen. Chris Buttars has been re-elected.

Score another win for the Eagle Forum.

The desperate opposition to his re-election and his narrow victory, of course, have only have made Buttars meaner.
I'll continue to defend all there is to do with traditional values. There's a war against that.
Saturday Voyeur's writers and stand-up comedians everywhere will be delighted to hear that. We can only wonder what further mischief and misadventures the old crank — who now thinks he has a mandate from God* — will dream up.

*Or the next best thing: Gayle Ruzicka.

Sore losers. The Salt Lake Tribune is a joke. Anyone that makes a decision because of a newspapers "editorial blasts" and "the pleas of gays" is a tool. People should be making their own decisions.

Glen - you and the rest of the elitists continue to miss the obvious.

Chris Buttars wasn't merely "criticized". He was witch-hunted. Elitists like the NAACP demanded his resignation. And the elitists didn't stop there. They launched an all-out witch-hunt of the District 10 voters, insulting them in every possible way. Did you really expect they'd take it lying down?

Of course not. You elitists quite literally drove District 10 voters back into the arms of Chris Buttars. They circled the wagons around him, and propelled him to victory from that power base.

Contrast that with HD 49. Greg Curtis was criticized, but not witch-hunted. Greg Curtis' constituents were not insulted or demonized. As a result, Curtis' power base eroded, the loyalty wasn't there, and Jay Seegmiller defeated him decisively.

When are you elitists going to accept the fact that you cannot browbeat us into accepting forced diversity and multiculturalism? When you chronically abuse people because you disagree with their politics, you can expect them to lash back at the first opportunity. That's Psychology 101.

Ha ha! Deseret Dawg, you crack me up. I can't believe you're throwing around the "elitist" epithet. Usually when someone does that it means:

a) He doesn't understand all the big words in the paper, therefore, "All them newspapers is ELITIST."

b) He's jealous. "Darn, I sure do wish I wuz smart."

C'mon. That whole "elitist" charge is ridiculous. It's the sign of a weak mind. Go ahead and defend Buttars. That reveals plenty about your character. "Forced diversity and multiculturalism"? No one is forcing anything on you. You're still free to set up a compound and collect firearms, and to stumble blindly into the 21st century barking the word "elitist." Why not point all that moral outrage where it belongs--squarely at ignorant fools like Buttars, and leave the "elitist" talk to Sean Hannity.

Hey Glen, did you forget that Buttars also represents West Jordan, not just South Jordan.
Would have writing "W. Jordan" taken two many minutes out of your busy life?
Are you unaware or just lazy?

Anonymous,
I love how liberals attack anyone like Buttars who has a different point of view.
So, tolerance is a one way street, isn't it?
When I lived in San Francisco, I had to shield my kids from the gay parades where naked men performed lewd acts on each other, yet Buttars disagrees with a political agenda, and he is the one who is crucified?

I can't tolerate the fake tolerance of the left anymore.

Excellent point, tolerance is only preached to those who have views that don't fly with someone else's view of things.

Buttars is a fag. There, take that from an elitist fag hater.

I'm just glad I don't live in Buttars' district. It's bad enough that he's a representative in this State.
He'd be reprimanded in ANY workplace - maybe not Totally Awesome Computers under Schanze - for speaking the way he did.
His words were beyond bad and an insult to members of my family. Trent Lott seemed decent in comparison.
But of course, when there's residual racism (blacks excluded from holding the priest-hood 'til '79, Curse of Ham, Curse of Laman) from the dominant faith here, it's hard to look beyond race as a way of comparing oneself to fellow humans.
Buttars didn't get the revelation then, and neither did the bigots who voted for him. Shame on him and shame on them. They had a choice. I'll simply not spend a DIME in that city. Sorry, decent business owners there, it's the only way.

Is this your IQ Test?

Do you agree with my way of thinking?
1. Yes – pass
2. No – fail

What’s worse than Mr. Buttars poor choice of words is using minority issues to further one’s own agenda and witch hunt. My African-American daughter-in-law gets this all the time since moving to Utah. Losers target her with their so-called racial injustice concerns only to spring a hidden agenda. How many of you “civil rights champions” would complain if Mr. Buttars used a derogatory remark about mormons? … (crickets chirping) …
