Duchesne's original gansta'
As you probably know, Duchesne is waiting for confirmation that the Sundance Kid is a homeboy. It would offer the eastern Utah community better bragging rights than being "Gateway to Roosevelt."Unfortunately, Daniel Buck, an authority on Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, has been piling up documentation that Duchesne's William Long is not the Kid.
University of Utah scientists are examining Long's bone DNA to see if it matches that of Harry Alonzo Longabaugh, a.k.a. the Sundance Kid.
But killjoy Buck has uncovered a 1901 Salt Lake Tribune article that indicates Long was in Duchesne at the time the Sundance Kid was known to have been in Argentina.
Duchesnites can take solace that while Long is not The Kid, he was a badass in his own right. The Trib story was an account of Long shooting a neighbor in a water irrigation dispute. According to Buck:
He shot his neighbor (a relative, apparently) in the head, then pistol-whipped him. Of course, the dispute was about water, so I'm sure he was justified.

Oct 21-In a dispute over irrigationwaterand ditches this morning. George Morrell was shot in the head and afterward beaten ovwer the head with a revolver by William long. The shotwoundis not considered dangerous and Morrell will most probably recover.
Family Secrets
Last year I found a ninety year old gentleman living with his son, who’s grandfather’s brother was one of the more notorious members of the Wild Bunch, when contacted, he said, he did not know his grandfather had once been an outlaw, nor that he was in anyway related to this infamous group of family members. He also said, he had never heard of Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch. The mother of this man knew everything there was to know about her father and his outlaw family, she was alive and there, during this period, yet, she never told her own children. One example of many, I can site where a member of the family was never told. Dbuck, believe me, I know a thing or two about what I say. I at least knew and talked to the men and their families, who were there when it happened, and that’s a fact.
Dan Buck discovered three South American Documents showing Butch and Sundance were in Argentina in 1901, which would disqualify Bill Long as Sundance. The Pinkerton files state Butch was in Wilcox, Arizona in May 1901. Another Pinkerton file states Sundance was in Buffalo New York in the summer of 1901. William Pinkerton said they were part of the gang that robbed the train at Wagner Montana on July 3, 1901. Another Pinkerton document states Sundance was in Price Utah in July 1901. The Pinkerton Dimaio report states Butch, Sundance and Etta were at the Europa hotel on March 2, 1902, which would mean the three, departed New York for Buenos Aires at the end of Jan 1902. What other conclusion is there, other than these Dan Buck discovered documents are fake? This would mean Sundance was in the USA on Oct 21, 1901 when as Bill Long he pistol-whipped George Morrell.

Glad I stopped by. It is a pleasure to read comments such as your's. From family, those that were trully there, rather than from someone who "has not, nor ever will, be there." But seemingly enjoys putting down those, like yourself, to apparently try and sell a book. Sad isn't it? We loose so much real information by the tactics of the "book sellers".
