Health Czar Mitt?
With the cratering of former senator Tom Daschle as President Barack Obama's Health and Human Services secretary, several pundits have floated former presidential candidate, governor and Salt Lake Olympic savior Mitt Romney as an excellent candidate for the job.

Karen Tulmulty at Time makes her argument in her Swampland blog:
He's the only person in America who has ever put together and passed a universal health care program.
Marc Ambinder makes his on Atlantic.
What Romney, in a bipartisan fashion, was able to do in Massachusetts -- even with caveats -- is pretty much the same as what Obama wants to do on a national level.
Jonathan Cohn at The New Republic agrees Romney would be a great choice in many ways, but,
He's said too many unambiguously harsh things--about the auto bailout, about the stimulus, and about Democrats in general--to serve credibly in this administration.

What. Mitt Romney is being critical of the bailouts? All the bailouts are doing is rewarding the greedy CEO's who ran their companies into the ground. They should fire all of them.

The average taxpayer is going to be on the hook for the bailout money.

I admire Mitt for many reasons, and think he would do an excellent job in the position. However, in his exit speech for his failed Presidential bid, he did have a mental meltdown when he equated Democrats to terrorists. I think Him spouting those hard line Republican BS phrases will hurt his future.

Romney and Obama seem to share similar ideas towards the Health Program they would like to see America adopt. It seems as though Romney has just as many supporters as he does non-supporters and it is important for him now to be able to prove himself and show us why he is the chosen candidate.

I think he would be well qualified, actually. And since he has spoken out of both sides of his mouth many times, what he said about the Dems is probably not sincere. He said what he needed to be elected Gov. of Mass., and then changed his tune when running for President. But, I do think he is qualified to HHS secretary. Just think...Leavitt, who is a Mormon, would be proceeded by Romney, another Mormon. Too funny.
