'Outrage is good'
The Senate divided again today into Democratic and Republican caucuses to discuss the suppurating wound that is Sen. Chris Buttars. The controversy over his anti-gay statements won't go away and the Democrats are threatening to drag it onto the floor.

At Friday's Senate press conference, Troy Williams, a journalist and gay activist, tried to force Waddoups to address the gay community that Buttars' diatribe had hurt and outraged. Waddoups refused to respond. Though Williams was uncomfortably confrontational (for Waddoups), it was legitimate to try to pin Waddoups down:
I think defiance and outrage is good. Buttars, [Gayle] Ruzicka, [LaVar] Christiansen and [Southerland Institute's Paul] Mero are all on notice. The gay community is no longer going to cower and sit quiet. We will no longer allow them to disparage our community with lies. We will no longer be silent, timid or afraid. It’s a brand new day for queers across the country. It’s a bold new day in Utah.
You can read Williams' full account of the incident here, with a bonus (Value! Value!) "pig sex" confrontation with the Eagle Forum's Gayle Ruzicka.

There will be a a day, a day not long from now, a day of freedom, a day of wonder and a day to really celebrate love. Love of everyone and rights to everyone.

That day will come. Even in Utah. Not tomorrow. No. Not next week. No. Next year? probably not. But that day is coming. Butt-arse, lesbian Gale . . . they will all see that day. Gays will be equal. Lesbians will be equal. Bi's will be equal. It will happen. And on that day . . .

The so call "church" will collapse into a pile of ashes. For, it is not a church. It is a business that plays on its members' purse strings under fear of hellfire. The church is hateful, harmful, anti-women, anti-good, pro-evil. The mormon church is to gays in Utah what plantation owners were to blacks in the pre-Civil War South.

The mormon church is bad, pro-devil.

Under the U.S. Constitution we are all equal. That will come to Utah soon. Yes, Utah. Really, it is part of the U.S., but hardly recognizable.

Bless you, Troy Williams. And yes, bless you Mr. Warchol. You do all of us a service.

i gotta tell ya Jeff, i just read your comment and i can see an awful lot of hate and evil in your paragraphs. My personal feelings on gay rights is, that i have enough problems with my own life to worry about what you are doing with yours, but i don't think you will win much support spewing out that nasty stuff. You may feel quite put out by the votes of Californians or a few utahns who quietly expressed their feelings through a political process, but i have never heard any such nasty stuff as what came out of your keyboard. I know you probably don't care, but if its change you want to bring...you're going about it all wrong.

Butters, Ruzicka, Christensen, and Mero want to talk about being nice, but they seem like mean buggers. :-P
