Political football

Utah Sen. Scott Jenkins has introduced a resolution into the Legislature urging the dumping of the Bowl Championship Series in favor of a national playoff system.

For those who have been wandering the West Desert for the past month — the University of Utah went undefeated, but were denied the BCS national champion crystal orb thing. Yeah, a real bummer. Now, it's become the Holy Grail for Utes fans.

The Legislature, which apparently has time on its hands, will debate SJR11, a "Joint Resolution Urging Football Playoff," to right that heinous wrong.

The BCS, which blew off a similar suggestions from President Barack Obama and Sen. Orrin Hatch and are ignoring a Utah Attorney General's investigation, will surely take notice of a embossed piece of paper out of the Utah Lege.

Glen, I wouldn't even think you knew what a football is, let alone understand the importance of keeping pressure on the BCS to buckle and change their philosphy and system! Basketball has a National Champ, so can Football! Instead of derision and cynicism, why don't you get off your ass and commend the Utah legislature for the effort? To do anything less just makes you an ASSHOLE!!

The reality is that every Utah Ute fan knows in their heart of hearts that they want NOTHING to do with Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin, Brandon Spikes and the Florida Gators.

While our legislature debates football playoffs, liquor identification and gay rights thousands of Utahns are loosing their homes and jobs. Sounds like Nero watching Rome burn. Great job elected officials - NOT!
