'Best Friend' killed
An original founder of the world-famous Best Friends animal sanctuary in Kanab was killed in a highway accident. Ernst Paul Eckhoff, 72, apparently drifted off the side of a two-lane road near U.S. 89 and rolled his Land Rover. The Best Friends sanctuary cares for about 2,000 dogs, cats and barnyard and wild animals (Annabel, right) from across the country.
