The 'Big Love' mission
When LDS missionaries ask potential converts, "Would you like to know more . . . ," the answer may soon become, "No thanks, I watch Big Love." (Sound of door slamming.)

The third-season finale of HBO's Big Love drew its biggest audience of the season, averaging 2.7 million viewers. It was helped, of course, by the controversy of the penultimate episode that infamously includes a re-enactment of a secret Mormon temple ceremony.

The finale's audience was up 135% compared to the 1.2 million the show garnered in its February season premiere. Not including the finale, the third season of Big Love, which stars Bill Paxton, averaged over 6 million viewers per episode in gross audience, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The final episode included revelations drawn from the real Mark Hofmann forgery scandal and murders that rocked the church in the 1980s. Big Love's polygamous cult prophet Roman Grant (creepily played by Harry Dean Stanton) reveals that a document supporting polygamy that has the official church on the defensive is a forgery.
We’ve been selling this phony crap to the church for years.
