BLM bans wrenches
Environmental monkey wrencher Tim DeChristopher is passing on a federal oil- and gas-lease sale today. That's got to be a relief to BLM officials and energy company bidders who watched in shock in December as the UofU student bought up $1.8 million in leases with no intention to pay for them.

DeChristopher's act of civil disobedience successfully blew up the process and stalled the sale until the Obama administration took charge.

The BLM, in any case, has pulled the most sensitive back-country leases and also has let bidders know in no uncertain terms that if they win a parcel they better have the cash to buy it.

UPDATE . . .
The bidding came off without incident.
