LDS front group?
Californians Against Hate spokesman Fred Karger says the amounts the Mormon church has disclosed "seems just to be the tip of the iceberg as far as what they spent in support of Prop 8.''
A church spokesman denies it established the National Organization for Marriage and says the church has disclosed its entire contribution to the Prop 8 effort.

It was fascinating to read the internal LDS documents by Loren C. Dunn describing the process used in Hawaii in the late 90s.
I am at a loss as to 1) why the opposition to gay rights is so important to the LDS Church and 2) why it is so important to hide its involvement.
It seems that if this is a matter of religious importance their open and above board involvement would show the courage of their convictions.
Hiding these things seems terribly beneath them.
Conspiracy theory?
HOW NOVEL...YET ANOTHER FUDGE PACKING STORY FROM THE FUDGE PACKER NEWS CORP BY ITS CHIEF FUDGE PACKER, GLEN WALCHOL....YAWN!
So who gives a shit, Glen?
It is not news to us that alot of churches supported prop 8!
I don't care if the mormons spend a billion dollars on Prop 8...better there than on building a downtown mall for queers?
This whole blog is just a Anti-LDS Attack blog. Get a life Warchol. Your just one of the street preachers on the corrner of the confrence center!
From my readings about 100% of your blogs is anti-LDS or Anti-right wing Utah politics.
Salt lake trib was established as an Anti-Mormon paper and the garbage continues, its getting old!
A church spokesman denies . . .
Remember, folks, it's OK to lie for god.
Glen: I love your blog. Keep up the good work.
The church statement once again proves that bullshit stinks.
It is absolutely news that the LD$ conspired to lead efforts against same sex marriage, to do so in a way that obscured the true origin of funds for such efforts and has been engaged in what is essentially a conspiracy to violate federal and state laws since the mid 1990s.
I hope that this cult is investigated and exposed. Many right wing hate groups, mormons included, have latched on to homophobia as a means of mobilizing what they believe to be their bases.
Fortunately, this time appears to be coming to an end. With Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine poised to legalize gay marriage, Utah and mormons seem more and more like Alabama under Wallace.
Why would mormons do this? Maybe it was because they wanted to be seen as a mainstream religion rather than as a fringe cult. But they got into bed with a group so hateful that this was not the result. Rush Limbaugh is no ally of the mormon cult.
I have to wonder why this is the subject of the Crawler's blog.
This story was reported (with a lot more detail) in a SL Tribune story a day BEFORE being the subject of this blog.
The readers of the Trib, this is old news. It is almost as if the Crawler doesn't even read his own newspaper.
And Californians Against Hate is a front group for?
wake up! It was the high turnout of black voters that doomed prop 8 not the Mormons! The Obama factor sealed the fate of this issue NOT the Mormons Catholics or Jews. Mormons are easy targets because they return rancor and hate with love and a smile. Oh and by the way if you are not fond of Mormons you should not make Utah your home!
Quit or bitching or MOVE!
I would guess that the "Front Group" is correct. But I would also guess that this will kind've be "thrown under the rug" in time. But as far as Prop 8? I believe that it will either be over-turned or it will be modified. We will dondone minority groups to be bigoted against anymore. We have many examples of this: Slavery, women's rights, and racial rights to start. This is not over!
