Onward Christian lawyers
Attorney General Mark Shurtleff has turned down a free offer (value! value! value!) from a group of Christian lawyers to do battle with any constitutional challenges to three abortion-related bills.

The Alliance Defense Fund says it will defend three new Utah laws:

Requiring physicians to tell women seeking abortions they can have a pain-killer for the fetus.

Defining viability and redefining the health of a mother.

Establishing a fund for private donations to defend Utah anti-abortion laws.

Lawmakers ignored Shurtleff's advice to observe similar laws' effectiveness in other states before passing them here. He figures the state will be dragged into court over at least one of the bills.
