Lege to citizens: Bug out
Gov. Jon Huntsman explained to reporters the political realities behind his decision to halt a citizen's commission's study of legislative ethics and redistricting reform.

You've got to involve the Legislature. They've got to be invested in the process as well. I think we have to recognize the steps they've taken.
Most ethics reform bills died in the last Legislature, nevertheless GOP leaders have made it clear that ethics and redistricting is their turf and Huntsman's commission should butt out. Huntsman told reporters at KUED's monthly press briefing:

I did not bow to legislative pressure. In the spirit of bringing everybody together moving toward a compromise, you've got to make sure everybody plays their respective role.

Those hypocrites up on the hill have had a stranglehold on power for so long that they believe their own press releases. You know, the ones about how they are so manly and wise and the last bulwark against Teh Gay and Obamanation and so on. It's too bad the Sheeple of Utah are too blinded by their religion and won't look at what a bunch of liars, crooks, and hypocrites they keep sending back year after year, just because they wear the same kind of magic underwear.

Sounds more like Lege to Gov: Men in glass house shouldn't throw stone and health thy executive branch first.

Most "ethics reform bills" are nothing of the sort. McCain's "campaign finance reform" bill should have been titled "The Keep the Incumbents in Office, Good Luck Getting a New Guy, Sucker" bill.

Utah is no different. Most of the "reform" bills proposed or passed by the legislature are bunk. Since when can we expect a governmental body to oversee itself?

Why not just open the vault door and tell the crooks to guard the bank?

Heal thyself first. Good words of wisdom for Huntsman. We need the bureaucrats to stop shaking down citizens and pandering for gifts from the colleges, universities, etc.
