Temple of Shopping

The April issue of the Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau newsletter includes a computer-aided rendition of the Nordstrom department store planned for the $1.5 billion plus (corrected) City Creek project/LDS theme park. It would appear from the rendition that Nordstrom architects working with the Mormon church figured they could save a few bucks by using a standard temple template.

If the City Creek Nordstrom's looks like a blessed place to shop — it may be that you've seen the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
I wish the rendition included the top of the spire, including the evocative VISA card Angel.

I'm pretty sure what looks at first glance like "the spire" on the Nordstrom's is actually not a spire, but a sky scraper in the distance. The Nordstrom's looks like a typical unimaginative big box store.
As much as you and I might wish it were otherwise, that doesn't change the reality.
But I'm glad somebody is picking up on the LDS Themepark, LDS Inc is creating with the few billion in cash they had laying around to spare, even as they're forcing their members to scrub toilets and vacuum the buildings on Saturday Mornings because they're a little shy on cash to spare for a janitor.
If I'm not mistaken along with the members helping tidy up their own mess the LDS church does have facility maintenance guys. At least in Utah, Idaho and Washington.
The plans call for a residential tower on South Temple. That is the image that appears to be a spire in the picture.
Heaven above must be smiling down its providence on such a multi-billion dollar project knowing that NO tithing money is being used. But hey what do I know, only that children around the world and right here at home suffer in poverty while the church apparently feeds its wealth to the rich in order to build up the kingdom on earth!
Where did the $20 billion figure come from? I thought it was only $2 billion, but what's $18 billion between friends?
If Bernie Madeoff made off with $65 billion of his fellow Jew's money, the Mormon dupes got off easy for $20 billion I suppose.
The similarity between the two buildings is astounding.
Both have doors and windows.
Both have corners.
Both are above ground.
Both have cement sidewalks.
Both have steps leading up to the front entrance.
One has an actual spire. The other has a building that looks sort of like a spire in the background.
Wow...they are clones of each other.
