Yarnin' with KSL

KSL-TV ran an innovative slow-news-day story on Sunday. John Hollenhorst linked the discovery three bodies found in burning cars, hinting they were murder victims and might have something to do with polygamy. Here's the lead of the story online:
It's a puzzling pattern of deaths: three people found incinerated in their cars, on March 9th, March 20th and April 2nd, in widely separated parts of Utah. Police investigators have suggested suicide, but some relatives insist it's a series of horrific murders. If we're going to spin tall tales, I've got some ideas:The relatives have no concrete evidence to back up their suspicions, and they've learned nothing that connects the three victims. The family we spoke with has been at odds with the FLDS polygamy group, but they doubt that's a factor.
- UFOs ray gunned the cars and occupants to destroy evidence of abduction and anal probing.
- Flame thrower-armed zombies.
- Dugway weapons research gone awry.
- A dragon is on the loose.

Gotta disagree Glen. While I do believe there's no proven connection, I can't help but feel like something's not right.
These car burnings have bad vibes and remind me of the kinds of eerie killings that happen in Chicago or New Jersey.
I think the only thing worse than a slow news day story, is a blog post about a slow news day story. That's a burn.
Both Anonymous miss Warchol's point:
Not was it a slow news day. Doesn't matter. That story, as presented, was not news. No way, no how. It should not have been aired.
But that's broadcast news for you. Just toss it out, no facts, no verification, no comment from anyone who might have a clue.
For years, broadcast "news" in Utah has sucked the big one. Bleed? Read. Fender bender is big news if you have video. Cat in a tree? News at 10. Slow news day, my behind.
No news judgment.
So if it turns out to be a mass homicide case, the Trib won't cover it until the killer is caught, charged and put on trial, and a guilty verdict is returned, because it's not "news" until "all the facts" are in. Give me a break.
The fact that the family BELIEVES it was murder makes it news.
If news doesn't ask questions, the questions often don't get asked.
I guarantee detectives are retracing their steps thanks to John Daley's piece and I thank KSL (or any news outlet) for it.
Making fun of people getting killed. Good job, Glen.
At least ksl isn't a fag promoting loser outfit like the sltrib. and by the way, ksl is not on the verge of financial collapse like you know who.
Wow, the last Anonymous post was great, could u be any less educated! Go back to the TMZ.com where you belong. O n poor tasted making fun of the dead, but thanks for bringing up a good discussion on this story. Not the first time today someone has brought it up.
When I was a young reporter some years ago ... I noted that a series of young boys were being kidnapped ... and their bodies never turned up. I quizzed the police ... saying that where I came from, girls are usually the targets and their bodies usually turned up within 48 hours. Could there be a connection? Police here said "no no no" -- no "evidence" of connection between them. That is, until Arthur Gary Bishop was arrested, charged and convicted in the murders of all five boys. Just because police say "no no no" ... doesn't mean they aren't looking at it closely.
