A man of many words
In an interesting new development, the Deseret News-operated Mormon Times has begun running a disclaimer:
Mormon Times is not an official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Utah's Kremlin Wall watchers, of course, are analyzing what's behind it because last we heard the church still owns DNews/Mormon Times. The disclaimer's placement directly under Jerry Johnston's column makes one wonder if he's blasted out of orbit with one of his folksy opinions, perhaps calling for female priesthood or gay redemption. Not likely.
My guess is that Deseret News Editor, and former lobbyist and amateur theologian, Joe Cannon's "Gospel Words" column is the problem.
Lately, Joe's been writing about "ity" words, such as "integrity" and three columns on "humility." Could Cannon being considering more dangerous "ities?" There's affinity (as in scams), audacity (as in hope), amorality (as in real estate), homosexuality (danger!), erectility (don't ask), finally drinkability (as in Kool-aid).
