Salt Lake City's smart Democrats
In one of those "They paid Dan Jones for that?" offerings, a KSL-Deseret News telephone survey finds that Salt Lake City is the most liberal of Utah's burgs.
In a nutshell, 37 percent of Salt Lakers are Democrats, 31 percent independents, 24 percent Republicans.
Statewide the split is 46 percent Republican; 28 percent independent and only 15 percent Democratic Party.
One part of the poll is questionable, however. Sixty-three percent of Salt Lake City residents reported that they have college degrees, while across Utah 48 percent say they hold college diplomas. Think about it—almost two-thirds of Salt Lakers have completed college? Dan Jones may have to start putting his respondents under oath.
