"Godfather" Films Restored

For fans of one of the greatest films of all time - according to Britain's Sight & Sound poll - Paramount is giving them an offer they can't refuse.

All three "Godfather" films have been meticulously restored and will be available on September 23 on new DVD and Blu-ray sets.

The first two films in particular have gone through a frame-by-frame process of restoratin. The results should be amazing.

Here's a bit from the press release sent out Monday:

"The Godfather and The Godfather, Part II underwent extensive frame-by-frame examination and restoration utilizing state-of-the-art digital technology in this historic preservation effort, which required more than a year to complete. Robert A. Harris of the Film Preserve supervised the restoration under the direction of Coppola and cinematographer, Gordon Willis. Harris' restoration credits include Lawrence of Arabia, Spartacus, Vertigo and Rear Window among others."

Best of all, the set is coming out on high definition Blu-ray for the first time.

Vince Horiuchi loves to watch television, play video games and make fun of Hollywood executives - all while keeping an eye on his two daughters. If he isn't in a self-induced coma from watching too many episodes of "Hope & Faith," you'll find him at the local cineplex in a self-induced coma from watching "Bewitched."
