Christina Applegate Talks Cancer

"Samantha Who?" star Christina Applegate got breast cancer and lived to tell about it.

She decided to have a double mastectomy and is now "Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean" of the cancer, she says.

Good for her. Now she is using this experience to push the idea that women at high risk for breast cancer should get an MRI, which she says can see actually see cancer cells in the test, a much more thorough way to examine for cancer than a mammogram.

But many insurance companies don't pay for an MRI, even for those people at high risk (figures), and it's expensive to have one done (figures).

So Applegate has started a program to get at-risk people into hospitals for MRIs.

Vince Horiuchi loves to watch television, play video games and make fun of Hollywood executives - all while keeping an eye on his two daughters. If he isn't in a self-induced coma from watching too many episodes of "Hope & Faith," you'll find him at the local cineplex in a self-induced coma from watching "Bewitched."
