Hot marble
Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. is following his own advice to Utahns about energy conservation in the sweltering days of summer -- but not voluntarily.

Apparently, the air conditioners at the Governor's Mansion on South Temple routinely give out, leaving Utah's first family sweating. Earlier this week, the governor urged Utahns to "be thinking about ways to better conserve energy." One of the tips was to raise thermostats to 78 degrees and be aware of peak power use times in the evening.

The temperature inside the stately residence hovered at 88 degress last week, sending Huntsman into the basement. And Wednesday night, the power went out entirely.

"It encourages me to hang out with the instruments," he said of his rock-star hobby. "You get more music out of it that way."
