Hatch catches Obamamania
During a news conference today promoting plug-in hybrid vehicles, it was apparent that either Sen. Orrin Hatch is a die-hard fan of Pat Bagley's cartoons or he might have caught Obamamania.

The latter is a disease crippling the Washington establishment, especially the press corps.

Symptoms include constant gushing over the fact Illinois Sen. Barack Obama may be the Democratic contender in 2008, belief that a two-year senator has what it takes to run the nation or, if you're in the Republican Party, a glimmer of hope that Obama can knock Sen. Hillary Clinton out of the running.

Obama was scheduled to be at the news conference, but didn't show. Said Hatch, "I understand Senator Barack Obama was also hoping to swing by to express his support. However, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't show, evidently he's at the White House today measuring the drapes."
