Yes, it was the same Charles Judd who headed the company years ago when it was called Envirocare of Utah. The same one who has been locked in legal combat with his old employer for much of the time since he parted ways with the hazardous and radioactive waste company in 2001.
Neither Judd nor the folks at EnergySolutions could believe the ex-president-turned-nemesis' name was among the 14 the state Elections Office listed on its web page as company's paid persuaders.
"That's goofy," said Greg Hopkins, the company's vice president of public relations. "He's clearly not a lobbyist for us, for the record."
The company blamed a computer glitch for the listing. And Vanessa Pierce, who heads up EnergySolutions chief foe, the Healthy Environment Alliance of Utah, wondered if it might be a sophisticated -- though bizarre -- lobbying strategy by the company.
Judd suggested a clerical mixup. "But if I am [listed] I ought to go up there and collect a check and give it to HEAL."
