Utah, it appears, is becoming important in the run up to the Republican presidential nomination just like Iowa or New Hampshire.
OK, maybe it's just coincidental timing.
One week after former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney announced he's officially running for president, he flew to Utah for a fundraiser. Arizona Sen. John McCain is even topping that. McCain said on the Late Show with David Letterman last night that he's a candidate for president of the United States -- confirming what we already knew. McCain then hopped on a plane and headed for Utah.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will be in Utah on March 30.
As for the Democrats, it doesn't appear there are any plans for Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama or John Edwards to visit Utah -- probably because there's virtually no chance the very red state would go blue in 2008.

Mitt Romney has been running for President since 2002. Besides, he was pretty much guaranteed to get large amounts of cash here.
Rudy Guiliani has been running for President since 2001. His planned visit is a little surprising, but not really. Again, more deep pockets.
John McCain has been running for president since 1999. He's in Utah because, well, we're near his home state of Arizona and again, there's some deep pockets here.
Democrats will come. The primary is 11 months away. And when they come, they'll probably meet more voters than the Republican candidates.
