Exhibit A -- Attorney General Mark Shurtleff "firing" two Special Assistant Attorneys General who gave legal advice he didn't like.
Only one problem. Shurtleff didn't fire them. He couldn't. They work for the state Office of Education.
Shurtleff did revoke their "special assistant attorney general" status because of what he said was an the increasingly hostile relationship between the two offices.

The word used in the letter was "terminated".
"As a result, your appointment as Special Assistant Attorney General is hereby terminated."
Then the letter said,
"Please be advised that you are not to give legal advice or representation to Superintendent Harrington, employees of the Utah State Office of Education, or any members of the Utah Board of Education; and that any legal conversations with those individuals are not protected by the attorney-client privilege."
Thanks for setting us straight.
The AG is the constitutional legal counsel for the state. One of the protections citizens have against rogue state agencies is that all agencies' legal counsel and chief law enforcement officer must be elected by and accountable to the people.
The State Board of Education is violating the law. They need to implement the law and let a court determine whether or not to issue a stay.
The Attorney General IS a rouge state agency all by himself.
:)
This according to the thesaurus embedded in the Oxford American Dictionary in Mac OSX: 2. ten employees were terminated fire, ax; downsize; INFORMAL can, cut; ANTONYM hire
Whether "fired" or "terminated," the release focused on GOP arrogance, hypocrisy, financial mismanagement and, frankly, the surreality of the GOP in Utah. I'm sorry you and your readers missed it.
