Romney told a Massachusetts magazine in July 2002 that a single-party system like Utah's "generates problems," and "in that state" the "more extreme wing" of the GOP has more political clout and that de-energizes the mainstream public.
Now there's video: see it here.
"I'm not convinced that a state would be better off with all Republicans," Romney says in a new video montage put together by the Massachusetts Democratic Party. "As a matter of fact, I've been in a state like that for the last three years. It's not a good thing."
While it may not be a good thing, Romney sure gets a lot of money from the dominant Utah party members. Maybe Utah Democrats would give too if they knew he was trying to help them.

Given that the McCain campaign is circling the drain unlike any other "frontrunner" candidate this early in recent history, I'd have to say that Mitt's comments about a one-party rule are pretty mundane.
Why no posts about some Utah heavyweights endorsing McCain, while the latter is losing on average of 20 staffers a day?
Just wondering how long those McCain "supporters" in Utah are going to hang-tough with the most disastorous presidential campaign in the last 50 years.... (OK, Jimmy Carter had a bad campaign in 1980, but at least he freed the hostages....or did he?)
Anyway, good stuff.
The Dems need to be careful with things like this. Massachusetts is also a "one party state" and every statement Romney made about his time in Utah could probably now be said about Mass. (Only now the word is D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T). One party dominance, never generates good ideas. Opposition and debate always improve the quality of ideas.
