In an unusual moment of spontaneity, Mitt Romney wandered back to the press section of the plane last night just before take off to chat. His first remark: "Lisa Riley Roche!"
"You all are wondering, who is Lisa Riley Roche. She is the Olympic reporter," Romney told the seated journalists, praising the Deseret Morning News reporter. "I saw Lisa everyday for three years -- almost everyday, for a long, long time. Well, it's good to see you again after all these years.'
Then, Romney made an odd comment, "She's at the Mormon-owned newspaper in Utah, called the Deseret News. And she is not a Mormon -- exclamation point. I tried to use the connection, but she said, "'Won't work with me fella.'"
Romney gave yours truly a cursory glance, indicating he either has no clue who I am or
doesn't care for that other, non-Mormon owned paper in Utah.

Out of context is definitely ther right name for you blog - becasue apparently you comprehend thngs out of context.
Living in Utah, do you not find it an anomoloy with all of the us vs. them sentiment about Mormons that someone who is not a Mormon is working with Deseret News?
And as for you - put your tired argument to rest. It sounds like Romney obviously doesn't know you, much less care that you work for the Tribune. Sorry you didn't make your mark on the Olympics. :...(

“Well, it's good to see you again after all these years.”
It’s no wonder. Lisa Riley Roche works for Joe Cannon, the former chairman of the Utah Republican Party and now editor of the Deseret Morning News. He has imposed a virtual blackout on staff coverage of presidential candidates other than Mitt Romney.
In the Deseret Morning News, it’s Mitt, Mitt, and more Mitt. He’s a sacred cow.
The number of Page 1 staff stories published by Cannon in 2007 and so far into 2008 in which Romney was the exclusive focus now stands at over 70; no other candidate has merited more than three.
Cannon does a disservice to Utahns who believe that solid journalism and information voters need to make a responsible decision at the ballot box require coverage of more than one political perspective ... "hometown hero" or not.

If the Deseret Morning News did a poll on reader interest in the progress of romney's campaign, given that the national news media and other candidates have made such a big deal about his ties to Utah and Mormonism, I am pretty sure it would reflect a lot of interest in the topic. Therefore, featuring those stories prominently sells newspapers. It's called serving the public, something the Tribune might consider doing.
I'm sorry, but "selling newspapers" and "serving the public" are hardly the same thing.
