State legislators do it. So do Congress members, governors, mayors, city council members and others.
But not Utah County Republican delegates. They don't want their email contact info out there, leaving them vulnerable to cyber-abuse and spam by -- Republican candidates.
County Republican Chairwoman Marian Monnahan told the Provo Daily Herald that many delegates wouldn't give out their email addresses if the party was going to hand them over to just any candidate.
She said there have been abuses in the past, with the emails making it into other hands, resulting in the delegates being spammed.
"We're not giving them to anyone at this point," she told the Daily Herald. That includes Senate Majority Leader Curt Bramble, husband of County Party Secretary Susan Bramble.
The vow of equal treatment is meeting with skepticism from some, including Kip Meacham, who is a GOP precinct chairman in Orem.
On Meacham's blog he says he received email from Rep. Chris Cannon congratulating him on being elected a state delegate.
So Meacham asks, how's Cannon getting the email addresses?

One correction, Dan.
I was only congratulated on being a State Delegate by the Cannon Campaign. I received a comment on my blog from someone who received a similar congratulatory e-mail, but is a County Delegate (not a State Delegate).
Also, the link to my blog isn't working, so I've included it below:

Maybe more people are afraid of a certain pirate captain getting a hold of them.
