NAACP denounces Buttars' remark

The NAACP sent out a statement in response to the Sen. Chris Buttars story published yesterday in the Trib (read it here) and today buried deep inside the Des News (read it here) calling Buttars' repetition of the "black baby" comment "deplorable."

"It appears Buttars feels impervious in his position as State Senator in light of his continued use of offensive statements."

The civil-rights group led by Jeanetta Williams also took a swipe at Buttars' public apology last winter at a Sunday service of the Calvary Baptist Church after shunning a meeting with NAACP board members.

"It appears the attempted cultural metamorphosis at Calvary Baptist Church was unsuccessful," the statement said, later adding, "Perhaps additional sessions at Calvary are needed."

"It is the position of the NAACP that we condemn such racist and inflammatory statements whenever and wherever they may appear."

Buttars is a coward. In inescapable slug of a human being. That's a given.

But it's Utah and given the Mormon church's attitude toward race, he fits hand in glove. Like Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms, Buttars is a very evil, very ugly and very Satan-like human.

He gets it, but thinks his stools have no smell. He thinks he walks on water. He thinks he cannot be touched. He thinks no one will try to remove him from office.

Wouldn't it be super to read a statement from "the church" castigating one of its members for the blatant and obvious racist and evil statements he makes? What does it take for Tommy Monson, aka eagle beak, to reproach a member for going against what the church says is principle?

I know, the church only comments on moral issues. Oh, and racism isn't moral? Right.

How about Vern Andersen and gang who write editorials take a swing not directly at Buttars, but aimed at "the church" from which Buttars gets his non-written marching orders?

Buttars shows that racial hatred not only exists in Utah it thrives and, in some cases, like his, it's rewarding.

I've often thought that God is preparing a very special place in Hell for GWBush and Cheney, where they will be forever pecked to pieces over and over to excruciating pain by tiny long-toothed demons while roasting in the hottest gases ever created.

I think Satan now awaits Buttars, who's ugly body should be placed between Hitler and Jessee Helms.

I consider the NAACP outburst off the mark, just like the previous outburst. "Black" is an adjective, and there are over 80 uses of the word as an adjective. Mr. Buttars can be outspoken, he is an excellent public servant,I know that he is not a recist, and I know his remark was not intended to denigrate the people who are referred to as "black". He was referring to situations which are like deep, dark holes, and he defined it as a "black" hole.

I recommend that the NAACP in Utah turn its attention to working with their youth to overcome the abysmal graduation rate of the high school youth referred to as "black." That is a tragedy which has gone on too many years in their part of society in this country. The continuing cycle of poverty for most black people will be overcome only by helping more of their youth graduate from high school and obtain education beyond high school.

The NAACP is too thin skinned about everything they consider showing bias against them, ie. Buttars and so-called loan bias.

The spokesman for the NAACP, King, is way off base with remarks of hatred towards Buttars, the LDS Church and Utah in general. Mr. Buttars is a member of the LDS Church, but he takes his marching orders only from himself, as all of uf LDS do. The LDS does not tell us members what to think or say, much to the contrary of King's untrue allegations. Mr. King's comments are vulgar, reek of hatred, and they are 90% untrue.

I would say to Mr. King and the NAACP in Utah, if you think we are such bad people, why don't you pack your bags and go elsewhe. I asssure him they will not be missed, especially with they hatred Mr. King has spewed out.

It's like groundhog day. Can't we vote both the NAACP and Buttars off of the island?
