The Associated Press has hard evidence that state Sen. Pat Jones, D-Holladay, was shmoozing the enemy during the Democratic National Convention.
She shook the hands of fellow Mormon Mitt Romney, who was in Denver to crash and bash the party. Romney, who is widely talked about as a potential running mate for Republican candidate John McCain, was part of a GOP effort to undermine the Democratic message.
Jones ran into Romney at the Pepsi Center, where the convention's first three days are headquartered, and she got his attention by saying she's from Utah.
But Jones said the handshake ism't what it looks like.
"I was trying to proselytize and see if I could convert him," she said.
