Interesting (and not exactly encouraging) reading
Having received an e-mail recently from a newspaper columnist in North Dakota who used to cover coach Ray Giacoletti when Giacoletti was in charge at North Dakota State, I went to look up some of his work - especially considering that columnist Mike McFeely was asking whether fans in Utah were getting aggravated with what sounded to him like the same problems that plagued Giacoletti at NDSU.

Fans might wince at what I found.

A column that McFeely wrote when Giacoletti landed the Utah job back in 2004 suddenly sounded awfully foreboding, in the wake of the disastrous 77-44 loss to Northwestern at the San Juan Shootout last month. Nearly everything he mentions in the column has some bearing - at least potentially - on Giacoletti's difficult situation with the Utes right now.

Of course, it's also fair to cut the coach some slack, understanding that he's working this season with eight newcomers and 10 players who are either freshmen or sophomores. Theoretically, they're bound to improve as they continue to play with one another - even if they're looking a lot like inconsistent young players at the moment.

If the Utes are in a similar situation next year, however, watch out ...

Wow...interesting article. It does seem so true as to what we're seeing on the court in Utah.
Something better change in a big hurry, or we need a new coach!

This article is right on the money. It has been apparent since day one that Giacoletti is nothing but a small time loser. He is in way over his head, and he is bringing shame and disgrace to a once proud and prominent program. Starting with last season it seems that each week he sets a new low for "worst"...Worst loss ever, worst start in 24 years, worst conference record ever, worst home loss ever, worst home record, etc., etc. Watching his teams play is to witness a comedy of errors. There are so many fundamental things that are wrong, that it spins your head. By the time you notice one problem, they display 5 more. Ute basketball is a DISASTER...As a 30 year season ticket holder, it is sickening, pathetic and disheartening to watch our program sink to such a minor league level...The glory days (and players) of Majerus are gone. How long will we have to endure this CLOWN? He has turned the most dominant program in the conference (and probably second only to Arizona in the West) into a laughing stock...Attendance is abysmal (there is almost zero student involvement). Even season ticket holders like myself refuse to go games (too embarrassed--feel like we are wasting our time and money). Giacoletti has all the charisma & personality of a cement brick...He excites NO ONE! His recruiting has been bizarre. Apparently he cannot recruit anyone in the USA, so we have a roster of 5 foreign players. I know some of these guys can play, but isn't it disturbing that Ray cannot bring in guys from our own country? In the mean time he has some guys on the roster who belong on a juco team or somewhere in Division III...Sorry, but a few of these guys could not have played on my intramural team (I AM NOT KIDDING). I never, ever thought I would see Ute basketball layed so LOW...It's a bad joke, and no one is laughing...
