Game on Line? Borha Suggests 'Go to a Different Person'
Interesting thought from guard Lawrence Borha after practice tonight, when I asked him what the Utes could do to "fix" their recent problems down the stretch, so that they might emerge victorious the next time they face a make-or-break situation late in a game.

"I think we just have to go to a different person," he said. "I mean, TK had two chances to win the game. It didn't happen. So, we go to a new person to win the game."

Don't know if Borha meant that to sound as bad as it might, or suggest himself as the candidate instead of point guard Tyler Kepkay -- forward Shaun Green interrupted with his usual goofiness -- but I found it surprising that he was willing to be quite so honest with his appraisal. Usually, the players are much less revealing than that, and tend to stick to the broad talking points they pick up from coach Jim Boylen in his locker-room discussions with them.

Whether the comment hints at darker issues within the team, I couldn't say. So if I had to guess, I'd imagine it's probably just the voice of a guy who's frustrated at having lost three close games in a row. At the same time, though, maybe Borha has a point -- judging by the results so far.

I have a comment with regards to Bohra. Maybe he should try making a play that makes a difference in any game at some point. He's a guy who basically disappeared for about 6 or 7 games, then he pops off. Let's not forget that he made about 20 (at least 20 that I can remember) ridiculously bad plays in the last minutes of games last year and the year before. Sorry, but Bohra has little credibility as a basketball player. Prior to his year, I was convinced that he could not play at a count rec level. At least with Boylen's coaching, he has lost weight, and done some good things with his game. Now he just needs to quit talking and continue to improve. Kepkay already is a much better player than Bohra can ever hope to be.

Just to back LB up, he was the leading scorer in New York City in high school, so he does have some credibility.

Also, Borha is one of the nicest, most unselfish guys on the team, and I really don't think he was implying that HE should be the one who should be taking the critical shots, he's just saying maybe someone else deserves a shot.

The reason you don't see Borha scoring as many points is because Boylen has asked him to be a defensive specialist. When LB went off for 20+ against USC Upstate, Boylen responded by saying, "I didn't even notice."

I agree that Borha is a little up and down on the offensive end, but seriously, who on this team isn't?
