Aztecs Might Make It Easier for Utes to Move Up
Wonder what kind of challenge the Utes are going to get from San Diego State at the Huntsman Center on Saturday, considering the Aztecs lost for the fourth time in six games last night.

And at home, to boot, to one of the league's weakest road teams.

The Aztecs fell to New Mexico 73-63 at Cox Arena, having never really been in the game after a sluggish start -- and without suspended forward Kyle Spain. By virtue of that, the Utes can move all alone into third place if they beat the Aztecs and the Lobos somehow lose at home to TCU on Saturday.

Worst case, though, a victory puts them in a tie for fourth -- hardly a small accomplishment this late in the season, for a team that by this time last year was circling the drain. And my guess on the Aztecs? Let's just say they're on the way down.

I hope you're right Lewis. If the Utes have fixed the problems that doomed them in close losses earlier in the year, they have a good chance of finishing in the top three in league. After the UNLV and AFA games, it looks like they might have figured things out.

One of the league's weakest road teams??? UNM is 5-5 on the road this season, 2-3 in the MWC. If you're judging them on losses to BYU and UNLV, both of those teams are undefeated at home in conference. The TCU game was lost on a last-second shot after a major blown call.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, Utah only has FOUR road wins this season and hasn't played at UNLV or BYU yet.
