Shutting Down to Cover the Beijing Games
Just a little heads-up ... the blog will be going quiet for most of the next six weeks, while I head off to cover the Beijing Games in China and enjoy some downtown around Asia afterward.
There might be a post here or there depending on developments -- maybe Andrew Bogut will commit to donating some of that $72.5 million to the Utes -- but the chances are good that things will be dark for awhile.
Meantime, coach Jim Boylen and his staff are hosting their final basketball camp of the summer this week, then will get on with preparing for their second season -- including their first big recruiting weekend when the football team plays UNLV on Sept. 6.
The Utes already have two recruits committed to the 2009 class -- center Jeremy Olsen and guard Marshall Henderson -- and they have two more openings.
With that, I'll say zaijian for now ...

Michael,
What's the difference... you hardly add to your blogs anyway... I've followed your writings the last few years and log on to your blog only to be disappointed time and again.
Your collegue has a blog on the Utes one way or another the ENTIRE year.
I just question your dedication and passion...
You could certainly give us some insite on the basketball situtation in China and tie it to the Utes in a creative way... otherwise, don't be surprise when you become irrevelant.
Have a great trip.

mike -
i totally disagree with kin. you are the man! i enjoyed reading your material while i worked with the utes last year. dykema does a great job feeding you info, but he could use a few lessons of how to play ball. i dominated in pick-up against him last year. anyways, enjoy your trip.
derek
Derek,
I agree that Mike can write... but the problem is that Mike is not writing.
The man wrote 38 blogs since April 1st... that's 126 days!
Mike is either:
Just don't care;
Lazy;
or too busy doing somthing else.
I'm calling him out, because I do want to read his stuff.
Bloggers blog... they have cyber cafes in China... so Mike, do the right thing, reignite your passion, start blogging.

OFF-SEASON = LESS INFORMATION
Ute hoops is not the number one thing on our minds in August. Fortunately, the Utes are not the Packers. For example, Luke Nevill would love to be as popular as Farve, but that's just not going to happen. More fans need to comment on what he provides to make this a success. He is providing as much information as he is receiving.

Kin - Be a true Ute. Do the right thing and get your buddies to jump on the right seats of the "Mike Lewis Bloggin' Bus." Don't be that guy under his bus. Why? Because there are no seats under his bus.

mike lewis,
Please blog more!
Mike Lewis is a stand up guy, who has a great sense of humor and understands the UTES better than most. He is not afraid to say when things aren't going as rosy as many fans want to believe which is refreshing (see Desert News entire sports section daily, I wonder if Harmon has a special coin!). Anytime I have had a question or comment Mike responds with an email or post. Do you read the nonsense the team down south blogger writes? I have posted before about the stupid things Rihannon would post, and now they have the MOST WORTHLESS sports writer ever covering them, Jay Drew, is so blue, and closed minded, and did a HORRIBLE job with covering ALL the other teams recruiting in the state. Good ridance. Ignore the fools Mike, GO UTES!
Big ute fan and D nice,
You are indeed correct. Mike is probably the only one (except maybe Joe Baird) that I perferred on covering the Utes...
I know it's Football season, but I really like to know how the Running Utes are doing... Coaches included... what is their frame of mind, are they working out, going to class etc... I enrolled at the U back '74, and have attended over 95% of the game since... the last year has given me some hope that I needed to know more before the season starts.
Kin
You guys are lucky to have so many blog sites dedicated to your sorry Utes. Leave this poor man alone and let him enjoy China. When there is something to write, I'm sure he will write it.
Crazy idea for Michael, Next time you leave have a backup! You know kind of like a two deep.
Did you miss your flight from Beijing? Weren't the Olympics over a while ago?
Seventeen days and counting since the Olympics ended. I'm going to guess that we don't hear from Lewis until thirty-five days have passed since the Olympics.
you suck lewis
