Victory Over BYU Looming Large
You want a big win?

That was it.

The overtime victory over Brigham Young qualifies as the most important win over the season for the Utes -- arguably, the most important since coach Jim Boylen took over -- at least according to the Ratings Percentage Index. The Cougars are the highest-ranked opponent the Utes have beaten in the RPI, which is a crucial element in determining at-large teams for the NCAA Tournament.

Even the Gonzaga win isn't looking as good.

The Zags are ranked 50th in the RPI, while the Cougars are 38th, with the Utes having jumped up to 16th after sliding a bit with their recent losses to the other top teams in the Mountain West Conference -- San Diego State and UNLV.

And while they won't make quite as big a statement by beating New Mexico at home on Saturday, the Lobos do represent a solid opponent, and a victory would keep the Utes on pace to have a good argument for reaching the Big Dance.

Great job Utah b-ball players, sorry your coach is not up to par. Utah lost a dozen or so games last year and a few this year because Boylen does not get how to call or get his players to execute a play in the final seconds of the game. Once again, a horrible forced shot by Drca this time before the end of regulation. The confusion looked very similiar to all the other games in which the Utes lost on a last second shot. And Boylen blames Drca to take the fall. Last year he did it to Kepkay and Tyler completely lost confidence by the end of the season. We have seen this time and time again, Boylen is not a good coach. He got outcoached during the second half of the UNLV game, badly. I love the Utes and glad they won last night, but Boylen is not the guy to take them to the next level. GO UTES!

I agree with Drake. Bigutefan, you're a terrible fan and no one wants to hear you whine about our coach. Boylen is a great recruiter and doesnt have any of his own guys in yet. I don't think any coach could do much better with Giacolettis guys

Hey Fakeutefan... I'm so sick and tried of your stupid comments... you've no clue about the game... no clue about coaching... go find yourself another team (jazz) to cheer for. If you had balls you would sign your name after making stupid comments!!

I read the first comment BEFORE reading who it was from and said to myself, "This must be that bigutebozo that's always blowing crap about Boylen." BINGO!

Honestly I don't know what this idiot's problem is. We are winning more and Boylen is entertaining. If bigutebozo wants a seminary teacher for a coach he can go root for the TDS.

Let's play Jimmy Ball!
