Catching up
Happy Friday everyone!

I'm back from the "Redneck Riviera", otherwise known as the panhandle of Florida, where it averaged 85 degrees with 85 percent humidity, so I have a new appreciation for our dry heat out here in Utah.

Couple of quick things to catch up on are below, then I'll try to do a little digging and see what the guys have been up to as we gear up for MWC media days July 21-22.

The Utes just sent out a release that they have sold 26,750 season tickets thus far. It's the first time in school history they've broken the 26,000 mark and the fourth straight year they've set a record in season ticket sales. Last year they sold 25,151 tickets.

I'm betting the high marks are a combination in high expectations for the team, plus a good home schedule that has Oregon State, BYU, TCU, UNLV, Colorado State and Weber State.

Season tickets start at just $85, so in today's high-priced sports world that is a good deal, I think.

Zack Lassiter, Utah's ticket manager, also believes the tailgating and activities the school is providing for fans is encouraging fans to come back for more. You'd be a better judge of that theory than myself.

Coach Kyle Whittingham will soon be making his way back from the islands where he has been working football camps along with assistant coach Kalani Sitake.

If you haven't marked your calendar already, don't forget the Fan Fest is Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the stadium.

As for the Irish deal, hopefully the contract will be finalized next week. Keep your fingers crossed!

LYA - PLEASE READ THIS!

YOU CAN'T WEAR A BLUE SHIRT IN YOUR NEW PICTURE AND WRITE FOR THE UTES, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?

ATTENTION ALL UTES FANS,

PLEASE LET LYA KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF HER AWFUL CHOICE TO WEAR BYU BLUE IN HER PICTURE, IT IS A CRIME!

While I would prefer that she wear a neutral color, I don't mind if she wears AGGIE BLUE. It wouldn't matter if she wore red either.

I don't want Lya to be a Ute-homer, I like my sports news to be straight forward, non-biased, and truthful. Lya, MCL, and Jay do a great job of providing that.

Thank you to all three of them and the Tribune for being a non-biased news publication/source.(cough cough deseret news)

p.s. bigutefan- This is in no way meant to be a slam against you or your posts as I am sure you are mostly speaking 'tongue in cheek.' I have a lot of respect for you as a true Ute fan.

Go Utes!!

Lya,
Thanks for your adept observations concerning the Utes. Are you a U of U grad? Kragthorpe and Monson must be byu boys. It is soooo difficult for them to say anything unbiased about the Utes. We will win in Michigan if Johnson and Utes apply their talents. Anyone else wondering why Marquis Wilson gets so few passes thrown his way? He seems open a lot. His per catch yardage is considerable.

uteswinagain,

Kragthorpe is just still pissed that the Utes have treated his brother (former Tulsa coach, current Louisville coach) like a rented mule two times in two years.
